Kissimmee Prairie Preserve State Park - October 30-Nov 1, 2017

I continue to add to my list of state parks in Florida that I have either visited or camped.  Kissimmee Prairie Preserve State Park is noted for two things: the largest protected area of dry prairie remaining in Florida and the best place to stargaze in Florida. The park is very primitive with no paved roads and the trails are very poorly marked - basically just old road beds.  This is the only place I’ve ever been that warns you on hikes to watch out for unexploded ordinance.  I can only assume that at one time the place was used as a bombing range.  The campgrounds are nice and they actually have a separate campground if you have horses.  It’s worth a visit!
