I came to opera late. Other than on early television, the first live opera I saw was Madama Butterfly Turandot.in Jackson, MS. The next I recollect was the War Memorial Building in Fort Lauderdale for Trust me when I say that’s not the best venue for opera. Later, I was at an Adobe Conference in San Francisco and saw Verdi’s Rigoletto and was hooked.
