JACQUES OFFENBACH’S TALES OF HOFFMAN - January 22, 2011 - Florida Grand Opera

Elizabeth Futral had one of the best voices I’ve heard in quite some time and she meshed quite well with David Pomeroy.  The mechanical doll as performed by Ms. Futral was also excellent.  It must have been quiet a challenge to sing four characters in one opera as she did and others as well.

The opera by Offenbach is about Hoffman’s tales of three lovers with whom he regales bar patrons.  He current loves Stella, the opera singer but she scorns him.

The stage design was very well done as well as the scene with the robotic Olympia.

Photos were from the website of Riverwalk Arts and Entertainment District but I suspect provided by FGO.
