Mule Ride on Kaibab Trail to Supai Tunnel - July 22, 2011

On June 1st, I got the chance of a lifetime to go down the Kaibab Trail to the Supai Tunnel in the Grand Canyon, North Rim.  My mule’s name was Ronnie and he would literally make you think he was about to walk off a 1,000 ft drop because his head went out over the ledge, but then he would turn at the last moment.  I soon relaxed and realized he knew what he was doing even if I didn’t.  The trail was only a couple of feet wide in some locations and when we met hikers, they would often have to climb up the side of the trail to let us pass. We dropped an estimated 2000 feet into the Canyon and ended at the Supai Tunnel for a little rest and water break.  It was then back up to the top.

I confess, I got carried away with the IMovie software and did a “trailer” of the trip. Jay and Azra were a very nice couple from New York on the Tauck tour with me.

I’ll post some slides of the trip under My Albums.
